Tour Overview

Day 1

Nairobi - Masai Mara

We pick you from your Nairobi Hotel in the morning and depart for Masai Mara Game Reserve via the viewpoint of the Great Rift Valley, lunch en-route. Arrival is in time for an evening game drive in this pristine, unequaled 'big game country'. We return to the Mara Campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 2

Masai Mara

This will be a day of tracking game with your driver-guide, after an early breakfast. The Mara's landscape is scenic savannah grassland on rolling hills, which enables the reserve to attract sufficient rainfall to maintain and support a large population of herbivores, together with the predators that follow. Elephant, lion, buffalo can be seen with relative ease though luck is a necessary factor for spotting rhino and leopard that complete the big five as the two animals are very timid and sparsely numbered. Plains game like wildebeest, zebra and Masai giraffe abound as well as hippos and a wide variety of antelopes including impala, dik dik, hartebeest and both Grant’s & Thompson’s gazelles among others. We will cater for a picnic lunch at the hippo pool. In the evening, we return to the Campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 3

Masai Mara

After breakfast, we depart for another morning of tracking game with your driver-guide in this reserve which borders Tanzania's Serengeti National Park and is the annual seasonal scene of the migration of close to 800,000 zebra and wildebeest that occurs between the two parks. Lunch will be at the Campsite. In the afternoon there is a choice between a game drive and a guided nature walk. At an extra cost, you may visit a local Masai village to see their nomadic lifestyle; the Masai are famous for their bravery, as they have co-existed with the animals over the years. By the evening we return to the Campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 4

Masai Mara – Nakuru

After breakfast, we depart Masai Mara for Lake Nakuru National Park arriving in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. The Park is the abode of various water birds that breed in the lake's salty water including flamingos, white pelicans and marabou stork; white rhino may be seen as well as the rare Rothschild’s giraffe, cape buffalo and other plains game in this park that is 188 square kilometres. Dinner and overnight will be at your budget hotel in Nakuru town.
Day 5

Nakuru - Mt. Kenya.

After breakfast, we depart for Mt. Kenya via Thompson Falls, which are named after Joseph Thompson, one of the first European explorers, noted in the rich Kenyan history as having ever walked from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the 1880’s. As arrival is in time for lunch, the afternoon is spent visiting the Mau Mau Caves where our freedom fighters (the Mau Mau) used to hide from the colonial forces during the struggle for independence. Dinner and overnight is at a nearby Campsite at the foot of the mountain.
Day 6

Mt. Kenya - Nairobi – Arusha

After breakfast we drive to Nairobi via the central parts of the country arriving in time for lunch. After lunch you will connect 1400hrs shuttle bus driving via the Namanga border point for immigration formalities. Arrival in Arusha is at around 1830hrs where you will be met by our Tanzania Representative and checked into a budget hotel for overnight on a bed-and-breakfast basis.
Day 7

Arusha - Lake Manyara

Morning, pick up from your Arusha hotel and depart for Lake Manyara National Park. Arrive in time for a game drive during which a fantastic array of birdlife can be seen, including flamingos that breed in the lake's alkaline waters. The park also offers a spectacular view of the Great Rift Valley with the fig forest here offering a good place to see monkeys and some of the recorded 350 species of birds. With luck, you may spot the tree climbing lions for which the park is famous. Dinner and overnight is at a Campsite.

In the central plains there are carnivores like lion, leopard, hyena and cheetah. The park is normally the scene of the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra, which occurs between the Serengeti and Kenya’s Masai Mara. Eagles, flamingo, ducks, geese, egrets, vultures, secretary birds, ibis, stork, heron, kite, pelican, crane and guinea fowl are among the birds that can be seen in the park.
