Tour Overview

Day 1

Nairobi - Masai Mara

We pick you up from your Nairobi hotel in the morning and depart for the Masai Mara Game Reserve via the viewpoint of the Great Rift Valley, lunch enroute. Arrival is in time for a late afternoon game drive in this park, which forms one eco-system with the Serengeti in Tanzania. Dinner and overnight will be spent at the Mara Campsite.
Day 2

Masai Mara

Early breakfast is followed by a full day of game drives within the reserve. The Masai Mara is famous for it’s black maned lions, elephants and buffalo that make three out of the ‘big five’ though luck is essential for spotting the other two, the highly elusive leopard and the endangered rhino. The reserve’s animal concentration and abundance is second to none. We will have a picnic lunch by the hippo pool where with luck one may spot hippos and/or crocodiles basking on the rocks. Numerous plains game including antelopes, wildebeest, zebra and the masai giraffe can be seen as well as scavengers like hyena and vulture. In the evening, we return to the Campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 3

Masai Mara - Nairobi

After breakfast and your last game drive, we depart the Mara region for Nairobi with lunch en-route, arriving in the late afternoon. Overnight will be at a city-budget hotel on a bed-and-breakfast basis.
Day 4

Nairobi - Arusha - Lake Manyara

After breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel at around 7.30 a.m and proceed to Arusha where you will be met by our Tanzania Representative, in a tourist shuttle via the Namanga border. The journey takes about four-and-a-half hours. After your lunch, depart for Lake Manyara National Park for a late afternoon game drive. The park is renowned for its tree-climbing lions as well as its bird life which includes flamingo and Egyptian geese among others. The Park is small in size and the time you spend there will be sufficient to cover it exhaustively. Dinner and overnight is at a Campsite.
Day 5

Lake Manyara – Serengeti

After breakfast, depart for the Serengeti National Park with lunch enroute, to arrive in time for an afternoon game drive. The term “Serengeti” means “endless plains” in Masai language. In the central plains there are carnivores like lion, leopard, hyena and cheetah. The park is normally the scene of the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra, which occurs between the Serengeti and Kenya’s Masai Mara. Eagles, flamingo, ducks, geese, egrets, vultures, secretary birds, ibis, stork, heron, kite, pelican, crane and guinea fowl are among the birds that can be seen in the park. Dinner and overnight is at a Campsite
Day 6

Serengeti – Ngorongoro

After breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area for a full day crater tour via the pre-historic site at The Olduvai Gorge. The Gorge Museum has a great wealth of the remains of various fauna and flora from the early man era. This visit will actually give you the highest chances of spotting the rare black rhino. The crater is 670 metres deep. The rest of the big five may be seen. Other species encountered include cheetah, grant’s and thompson’s gazelle, the common zebra, spotted hyena and wildebeest. Flamingos may also be seen on the Crater Lake. In between tracking game, you will have a break for lunch at the Ngoitoktok Springs Picnic Site. In the evening you ascend and out of the crater to spend the night at the Campsite.
